Chapter 31 Save The Children

  • The loudspeaker crackled overhead, shrill and grainy. “Kael,” a voice drawled, but it was distorted but yet calm. “You’ve made a mess of my ward, impressive, but reckless.” Kael froze as his eyes flicked upward, and Moro crouched beside the gurney, clutching Mayla’s small hand like a lifeline. The kids were silent now, watching Kael’s every move.
  • The voice continued. “You’re wondering why we haven’t cut our losses. Why we haven’t just pulled out and left you a pile of bodies. Because one of those bodies is worth more to me alive than this entire hospital.”
  • Kael’s jaw tightened as his finger hovered near his trigger.
