Chapter 69

  • That was the final thought that crossed my mind before everything began. Transitioning back to my human form was a significantly less painful experience compared to the transformation into my Were self. Once my body restructured, instinct took over, allowing the change to occur rapidly due to muscle memory. The real agony resided in the shifting and reconnecting of my bones. It felt like they were fracturing within my skin, only to realign afterward. I could sense each individual bone shifting, even in my toes.
  • The sounds echoed in my ears like a series of 'pop, pop, pop,' as if each bone snapped back into its designated place. I wasn't certain if Xavier could hear those sounds, but they were unmistakably clear to me. A soft cry escaped my lips as he tenderly nudged his nose against me. The sensation of my fur retracting mirrored that of experiencing goosebumps, albeit with a heightened intensity. Following that, I felt my claws begin to retract back into my fingers, which was the only part of the transformation that brought any relief.
  • A shiver coursed through my body, and I found myself breaking into a light sweat as the transformation approached its conclusion. My stomach churned uncomfortably, prompting another whimper to escape me. Opening my mouth, I howled, but the sound transformed into a cry just before the transformation was complete. When I looked down at my hands, I realized it was finally over.
