Chapter 114

  • Bal was undeniably a reprehensible individual, yet the question lingered in my mind: did he ever start to realize that my father had crossed a line? With each passing day, it seemed like my father was losing his grip on reality, which ultimately led him to call for help. If that were the case, I might have Bal to thank for potentially saving my brother and the girls that Thor had abducted. However, I was equally forced to acknowledge the damage he had inflicted on my life and Xavier's. Oh, the irony!
  • "Goddess, you've been working hard again, I see," I thought to myself, unable to suppress the almost hysterical laughter that bubbled up within me.
  • I sensed Xavier pausing in his pacing at the sound of my laughter, along with my father's relentless fidgeting and tapping from a few cell blocks down the long, gray corridor filled with numerous rows of cells stretching out for countless yards. Earlier, when we had first been brought in, I had noticed that there were likely others in this dismal place aside from Thor, Xavier, and myself. But honestly, I couldn't bring myself to care; I knew that whoever else shared this grim fate with us would probably meet the same dismal end. We were all merely spending our last wretched moments on this earth behind cold prison bars, anxiously awaiting our escorts to return, eager to bring an end to this agonizing waiting period—a wait that was, to my mind, far worse than the inevitable fate that awaited us. I was certain that anyone in this hellhole would welcome the distraction of a deranged former Alpha of the Lemuel pack unleashing his wrath upon his own daughter.
