Chapter 11
- The city sprawled out below, appearing miniature from the distant vantage point. A lively pulse emanated from the urban hub, pulsating as dusk ushered in that fleeting transition between daylight's retreat and the impending nightfall. Distant lights shimmered like distant stars on the horizon. Emerging from the concealment of the bushes, I ventured onto the ledge, a panoramic view surveying the surroundings to ensure solitude.
- Each step taken reinforced the sensation of standing atop the world, a fleeting interlude where safety enveloped me. I knew it was a transient respite, yet for that fleeting moment, I savored the reprieve. Just for a moment, I dared to believe I could endure this inferno.
- A curl of distaste marred my features as thoughts of Andrew intruded upon my mind. How I despised him, along with his cohorts. Struggling to recollect the distant past when we were friends, classmates, equals. The chilling recollection of his menacing whispers and unrelenting physical assault replayed in my mind. The stark brutality of his actions left me reeling, the memory of his grip on my neck and the sting of his nails etched into my flesh vividly haunting me.
