Chapter 50

  • It seemed as if he were experiencing actual pain as he bent down in front of me, his eyes wild with a tumultuous mix of emotions that I couldn't quite identify. He spoke softly, "You're okay now, Aadita. He won't come near you ever again."
  • As much as I desperately wanted to believe him, to have faith in the promise he was making, I was painfully aware of the reality lying ahead. I knew I would have to return to that place tomorrow, and the day after, and countless days after that. The thought of seeing him every single day made my heart sink; it meant being reminded of the horrific events that had just transpired, over and over again.
  • And there was a chilling certainty that he would hurt me again. This cycle of violence would inevitably continue, especially considering that Xavier and Steve would likely face severe repercussions from the pack, if they weren't outright executed for what they had just done. They had disobeyed a direct command, regardless of whether it had simply been a comment made on social media, which clearly indicated not to interfere.
