• Amelia looked so helpless in front of me that it was almost comical. She always had an air of vulnerability around her but today, it was so thick that I felt like I could reach out and take a hold of it. I had not expected her to call me. In fact, I was surprised as hell when I saw her call. I was thinking of a way to get her to me so I could fulfill my plans and she walked right into my arms.
• “Before I answer, perhaps we should order,” I waved over a waiter. “I will have two glasses of wine please.”
