Chapter 2 The Return

  • Five years later, a young girl and a young boy held hands as they walked out of the VIP arrivals walkway of Ashcreek International Airport. They were immediately put under the spotlight upon arrival.
  • The boy had exquisite features, especially his dark and deep eyes that shone with a coolness that transcended his age. His all-black casual wear elevated the starkness of his cold face.
  • Beside him, a girl was dressed in the same wear but in white. She was blessed with the same attractive features as her brother. Her shoulder-length dark hair was tied up into two cute braids, and her round eyes twinkled with wittiness and a hint of cheekiness.
  • “Wow! Look at them! What cute children! They must be fraternal twins.”
  • “They’re too beautiful! Could they be child actors filming something?”
  • Hearing the murmurs around them, Kenneth had his brows furrowed, and he tightened his grip on Angela’s hand. “Angie, slow down. Let’s wait for Mommy and Ms. Monet.”
  • Although he spoke in a child’s voice, his tone sounded serious, especially when paired up with his gentlemanly actions.
  • “Ken, I know!” She shrugged his hand off and turned around before saying with a serious face, “We must have been here before, right?”
  • Kenneth stared at the hall that was bustling with travelers. “How do you know?”
  • “Look!” Angela pointed at the row of fast food restaurant signs in front of them. “Those foods are my friends! I know them well. Look, they are so friendly! They’re waving at me and asking me to give them a hug! Let’s go, Ken!”
  • Kenneth rubbed his forehead with a troubled and defeated expression. “You glutton! Mommy was right. We have to look after you closely after we come home, or else you’re going to be kidnapped easily.”
  • She swayed his arm with an adorable look, her lips pouting. “Let’s go, Ken! I’m starving. What if I starved to death? You’d lose a cute sister!”
  • “Ah, Angie, you’re talking nonsense again!”
  • A crisp voice cut through the air. The kids turned around to see their mom walking over.
  • The woman was dressed in a white tee and a pair of faded jeans. Her hair was also styled into a messy bun.
  • Although she was dressed casually without makeup, her skin was radiant, and her features were exquisite. It was no wonder she still attracted gazes when she made her way through the crowds.
  • Of course, Isabel felt those eyes on her.
  • But five years of life and work experience abroad had immunized her against others’ judgment.
  • Five years ago, she found out she was pregnant not long after she left Ashcreek. When she arrived at the hospital for an abortion, she was informed that she was not in a suitable condition for abortion—she might suffer from a high risk of hemorrhage and even become infertile.
  • More importantly, she was pregnant with twins, which was almost like a miracle for a woman with her complications.
  • After a lengthy debate, she decided to give birth to the twins.
  • Thankfully, they were well-behaved and obedient, which brought a lot of happiness and hope into her life.
  • Three years ago, she first crossed paths with her current manager Clara Monet. To raise her kids, she decided to debut as an actress. Now, to better provide for her kids, she chose to return to her home country for better career development.
  • Way before returning, she had made all the necessary preparations to start a new life.
  • That included a name change. She would be Camellia Burns now.
  • Isabel Yates is a name of my past. It shall be forgotten, just like everything in my past!
