Chapter 11 The Cat Is Out of the Bag

  • That day, Camellia was sending the two children to kindergarten. However, chaos always seemed to ensue when they were walking on the road.
  • “Look, it’s those two cuties!”
  • When Camellia looked in the direction of the voice, there was a woman in her 20s taking out her phone and snapping photos of the twins.
  • “Let’s go! We’re going to be late!” Camellia took the children by their hands and quickened her pace.
  • All these years, whenever she took the children out, they would receive all sorts of looks. She was used to it by now, as she was even bothered by scouts at one point. Even though the woman didn’t follow them, Camellia still felt that people were constantly looking and pointing at them along the way.
  • Camellia frowned. Well, this is kinda weird. She hadn’t dressed the children up too much today, so why were they garnering so much attention? She sighed in relief when they arrived at the kindergarten, but she soon heard the voice of a seemingly excited child.
  • “Look, Mom! I told you Kenneth and Angela Burns are my classmates, but you didn’t believe me!”
  • A chubby girl bounded toward them and grinned at Kenneth and Angela. “I saw the commercial you’re in! It looks fun.”
  • Commercial?
  • Camellia bent down, smiling. “Hi there, are you sure you got the right people? Ken and Angie never filmed any commercials!”
  • The girl pouted and shook her head defiantly. “Impossible! I won’t mistake them! My mom even bought me toothbrushes like the ones Ken and Angie used!”
  • Toothbrushes? Seeing the confident look on the girl’s face, Camellia looked toward her own children. Kenneth frowned and looked at the girl disapprovingly, while Angie blushed and looked down as soon as she met her mother’s gaze. It was as if they had done something wrong.
  • Camellia’s heart skipped a beat. “Ken, what’s going on? Tell me, please?”
  • Hearing that her mom didn’t ask her, Angela immediately looked at Kenneth. “Ken, I can’t help you here. Mommy said we should be honest children, so please tell Mommy about our little secret...”
  • Kenneth closed his eyes in despair.
  • Camellia took both their hands and led them away from the crowd, taking them to a spot under a tree. “What exactly did you do? And it’s even something you don’t dare to tell me?”
  • Out of guilt, Kenneth looked at Camellia. “Mommy, it’s not her fault. I was the one who asked Angie to keep it a secret. Mommy, Angie and I filmed a commercial, and it’s for children’s toothbrushes...”
  • “You filmed a commercial?” Camellia’s face fell as her voice raised by an octave. “When did that happen?”
  • “Two days ago.”
  • Angela interrupted hastily, a proud expression on her face. “Mommy, don’t get mad! We made you proud because both Mr. Director and Ms. Monet said that we did well!”
  • “Ms. Monet took you there?” Camellia felt an oncoming migraine. The whole world knows about it, but I’m the only clueless person!
  • The young boy was not about to let his partner-in-crime take the blame. “It’s not Ms. Monet’s fault. I asked her not to tell you.”
  • Camellia put a hand to her forehead. “Wow, you’re even so heroic! You take responsibility like a man, don’t you?”
  • Seeing their mother mad, Angela winked at Kenneth. “Ken, go comfort Mommy. She loves us so much, so she won’t get angry with us for real. Also, Mommy said that it’s okay to make mistakes as long as we change for the better.”
  • “You two, follow me home! No kindergarten for today!” Without even the slightest hesitation, Camellia took the twins’ hands and turned to leave.
