Chapter 3 She’s an Award-Winning Actress

  • After Isabel came home, she took a job that Clara arranged for her, which was an audition for the TV show ‘Written in the Stars’.
  • She was seated quietly among the other actors who came for the audition when suddenly the crowds stirred.
  • “Look! The award-winning actress Cindy Yates is here!”
  • “Wow, how pretty! She looks more classy indeed after she’s gotten popular.”
  • “What’s she doing here? Is she interested in the lead role as well?”
  • “Are you dumb? She’s shot up to fame all because of President Ludlow’s investments. This show is one of his investments as well. It makes sense for her to take the lead role!”
  • The mention of that familiar name caused Isabel to shudder as she followed the direction of the attention.
  • Dressed in a Chanel tweed set, Cindy walked over in the midst of all attention.
  • Compared to the girl who was running around, finding and begging for opportunities, the woman in front of Isabel right now exuded a more sophisticated aura than before and had the qualities of a star.
  • Camellia looked to her feet and smirked.
  • She had prepared to run into Cindy any time, but she did not expect the moment to arrive so soon.
  • By the looks of it, I think Director Jacques must have treated her well… All because she manipulated me!
  • Camellia clenched her fists and looked away, hiding the hatred in her eyes.
  • When Cindy passed by the row of actors, she caught sight of a familiar woman from the corner of her eyes.
  • Although she was only dressed in casual wear, her outstanding aura was destined to catch attention.
  • Not only that, they knew each other from way before.
  • Cindy walked over to Camellia, looking astonished. “Isabel Yates?”
  • Camellia knew that she could not hide anymore, so she turned around with a polite smile. “Hi, Miss Yates.”
  • It’s Isabel indeed! It has been a few years. Why did she show up here?
  • Cindy’s expression fell, and she caught Camellia’s wrist. “It’s been a while. Let’s talk somewhere else.”
  • Before Camellia could respond, Cindy dragged her to the back of a pillar nearby.
  • “Isabel, why are you here? What is it that you want to do?” She flung Camellia’s hand away and confronted her without further ado.
  • Camellia straightened her back and asked Cindy with a smile, “What? Do you really think I’m here to expose your under-the-table deal from five years ago?”
  • “You—” All colors faded from Cindy’s face as she lifted a hand to cover Camellia’s mouth. Clenching her jaw, she hissed, “I am warning you now! You know my status in the entertainment industry. If you don’t want trouble, you’d better keep things under wraps. Otherwise, I’m going to make you regret it.”
  • Camellia shoved the woman away and snickered. “Cindy, come on! You can’t keep a secret like that forever. Even if I keep my mouth shut, do you honestly think no one would learn about it? Hah! If you want me to stay quiet, you should at least show some sincerity! Threats no longer work on me.”
  • “You—” Cindy was choking on her words, shocked by the aggression in Camellia’s eyes.
  • How did she go through such drastic changes after five years of absence?
  • “One more thing: I am not Isabel Yates anymore. I am Camellia Burns, and I’m here today for the audition. Miss Yates, we’re going to be colleagues in the future. Do look upon me favorably.” She gave Cindy a nice smile and turned around to leave.
  • Cindy wanted to run after her but soon noticed a familiar tall figure of a man appearing from the middle of the crowds. Her eyes gleamed with an idea, and she used up all her strength to make a tear on her outfit.
  • The jarring sound of fabric tearing was heard. Cindy showed an almost undetectable evil smile as she rushed up to grab Camellia by the arm.
  • Camellia turned around, only to see Cindy losing balance and falling to the floor in heels.
  • She started wailing without giving Camellia a chance to react. “Cammie, why did you do this? I was only showing my concern for you. How could you do this to me?”
  • Her voice was not too loud but sufficient to attract everyone’s attention.
  • Camellia instantly understood the situation from the gleeful expression on Cindy’s face.
  • Hah! She’s an award-winning actress indeed, seeing how she can get into character any time, any place.
