Chapter 12 Reconciliation

  • “Mommy!” Kenneth struggled and pulled his hand out of Camellia’s grasp.
  • Before Camellia could question him, he took a few steps backward and looked at her with a serious look in his dark eyes. “Mommy! I know we’re wrong to film a commercial without getting your permission, but you were in the wrong first, and that’s why we had to do this.”
  • “I was in the wrong?” Seeing the serious expression on her son’s face, Camellia frowned and asked patiently, “All right, then! Tell me, how was I wrong?”
  • Compared to her stubborn daughter, her son was usually more level-headed and rarely sulked.
  • If he had to say those words, Camellia felt that she should listen to his reasons properly no matter what.
  • Kenneth was still frowning, but his gaze was unwavering. “Mommy, you didn’t get our permission before giving birth to us with Daddy, so that’s your first fault. Then, you keep lying to us that we didn’t have a daddy, but we won’t be here if we don’t have a daddy, so that’s the second fault. You know who our daddy is, but you wouldn’t let us meet him and forced us to become children without a daddy, so that’s the third fault. You are an actress yourself, but you didn’t ask if we liked acting; you just banned us from even trying, so you’re not respecting our interests, and that’s the fourth fault. Angie and I know that you’re doing this for us, and you’re working hard to earn money to raise us, so we don’t hold it against you… But then you didn’t ask us why we’d film a commercial without telling you. Instead, you just got angry with us, so that’s the fifth fault...”
  • Camellia was stunned because Kenneth’s words had proof to back them up, made sense, and were also arranged in an orderly manner. Overall, it was a well-constructed argument.
  • If she didn’t hear it with her own ears, she wouldn’t even believe that her young son would be able to say something like that.
  • As she saw the pitiful look growing on Kenneth’s handsome face, she let go of her anger.
  • She reached out and patted her son on the cheek. “All right, then tell Mommy, why would you film a commercial with Angela behind my back?”
  • Kenneth bit his lip and looked at Camellia in determination. “Mommy, both Angela and I knew that you didn’t let us film shows or commercials because you love us. You didn’t want us to get too tired, and you’re worried that our studies will be affected too. But, Mommy, you didn’t know that we love you even more! We don’t want you to shoulder so much for our sake...”
  • With that, Kenneth stole a look at Angela, and the girl quickly shook her head and pouted. “No, I’ll eat less from now on! I’m easy to raise!”
  • Camellia didn’t know what to feel when she heard her son’s words.
  • It wasn’t a good thing for the children to be so understanding. She felt guilty, and her heart hurt for them.
  • Without waiting for Camellia to speak, Kenneth continued, “We think that if we made our debut, we would be famous and earn a lot of money. Then, when Daddy sees us, he won’t think that we’re a burden… If we all have a daddy who loves us, then Mommy won’t have to be so tired, and you won’t be so scared of the dark...”
  • With that, Ken’s eyes reddened, and his handsome face was filled with a pitiful look.
  • However, the tears in his eyes were holding on firmly; he didn’t allow them to fall.
  • It only hurt Camellia even more. It hurt so much that she couldn’t breathe, and tears streamed down her face.
  • “I’m so sorry, darling. I was wrong!”
  • Camellia kneeled on the ground and held her children firmly in an embrace. She was crying, both in happiness and sorrow.
  • “Ken, it’s your fault that Mommy is crying now. Do something...” Angela pouted and complained to Kenneth.
  • Before Angela finished her sentence, her tears were already rolling down, and she looked terribly pitiful.
  • Kenneth frowned and gently pushed his mother away. “Mommy, don’t cry… If you really don’t want us to debut, then we won’t do it. We’re fine without a daddy, but we can’t live without our mommy… I’m a brave boy, and I’ll grow up quickly so that I can protect you and Angie...”
  • If his words before had only caused Camellia guilt, his warm words now had moved her deeply.
  • The tears she struggled to stop had begun to fall again as she caressed the children’s faces. Her eyes were still red as she smiled. “All right, it’s my fault. I’m so sorry, sweeties.”
  • Seeing the smile on their mother’s face, the children nodded quickly. “It’s okay, Mommy.”
  • Camellia wiped her tears, then touched Angela’s face gently, saying, “Angie, you have to learn from Ken. Don’t cry so easily, okay?”
  • “Hmph! I don’t want to learn from him. Children who are picky about their food aren’t good children.” Angela turned up her nose.
  • Camellia giggled.
  • This kid really loves her food.
  • “Mommy, can we go to class now?” Kenneth blinked as he looked at Camellia.
  • “Of course! Let’s go!” As she nodded, she took their hands and led them into the kindergarten.
