Chapter 4 Drama at the Filming Set

  • “Miss Yates, what’s wrong?”
  • A crowd quickly formed around them, and someone helped Cindy up from the floor.
  • She sobbed and shot a sad glance at Camellia. “It’s fine! This is one of the candidates today, and my old friend. I told her that I wanted to talk to the director and get her a role, but she said she didn’t need my help! And she even said that… She said that I slept with the director to get to where I am today! Then, she ripped my outfit while she was at it!”
  • “Who is this woman? Why is she acting like a barbarian?” The people started to judge Camellia, who smirked when she saw the tears on Condy’s face. “Miss Yates, our award-winning actress, if you want to audition, the venue is over there. This is not your filming set. There’s no need to act like your life depends on it.”
  • “Cammie, I know you envy me, but you don’t have to make up stories about me!” Cindy was crying pitifully while Camellia looked calm. “Hah! Only you know what you did in the past to land roles…”
  • “That’s enough!” A cold voice brimming with anger sliced through the air as a man made his way through the crowds.
  • “Young Master James is here!” Everyone looked to the source of the voice and found a man in a black suit walking over.
  • A look at him suggested that he must be 6’2. Not only was he tall, but he also had an unbelievably beautiful face. His carved features looked as perfect as a statue.
  • The highlight was his pair of dark and deep eyes that looked like bottomless pools, and the pair of chilling eyes were staring at Camellia with an imposing air that would make anyone look away.
  • He was James Ludlow, the current president of Ludlow Corporation and the Mr. McDreamy of all the women in the city.
  • When James was standing in front of them, Cindy rushed up and hugged his arm. “James, that woman slandered me! She said that I got my fame from sleeping with directors.”
  • Camellia was already frozen when she came across James.
  • Who is he? Why does he look just like Ken?
  • They look like they’re made from the same mould!
  • What surprised her the most was his pair of deep and cool eyes—it was an uncanny resemblance.
  • When her mind went blank, she heard him speaking to her in a low voice. “Miss, please apologize to Cindy.”
  • “Apologize to her?”
  • She tried to calm herself down and met his scary eyes. “Sir, why would I do so?”
  • “For making up rumors and for being mannerless.” He narrowed his eyes, and he sounded aloof and a little impatient.
  • She almost laughed from the anger. Suppressing the hatred for Cindy, she looked into his eyes and carried herself with a dignified air. “An award-winning actress and her boss are slandering me in public. I think you’re the ones who are rude.”
  • The crowd did not see this coming, and they started mumbling to each other.
  • “She’s too bold!”
  • “Does she not know James Ludlow?”
  • ……
  • Cindy’s perfectly drawn brows knitted together, and she said through clenched teeth, “You’d better apologize now before we go hard on you! Do you know that James could end your career with a word?”
  • End my career? Hah! Come on, Cindy! What you did five years ago already made me hit rock bottom. How much worse could it be?
  • Her defiance was observed by James, and an unnoticeable icy look flashed across his eyes. This woman must have wanted to stir up trouble to get my attention! I shall grant her wish.
  • Just when she had wanted to argue, she was cut off by his signature low voice. “Since you accuse me of being rude, may I ask if you want any compensation from me?”
  • Cindy was shocked. “James, don’t listen to…”
  • He raised his hand, hinting at her to shut up. Then, he fixed his deep gaze on Camellia’s face. “Perhaps a word of apology is not enough for you. My way of doing things is straight to the point. You can skip the audition. I’ll hand you the lead role!”
