Chapter 44 The Final Week

• At 36 weeks, Grace found that the last month of pregnancy demanded a degree of mental and physical preparation she hadn't completely expected. When Max returned home with what seemed to be every infant care guidebook available at the neighbourhood bookstore, she was working from home full-time because she found that working in an office was becoming more and more difficult due to her energy levels and physical comfort.
• "Are we having a last-minute panic about our preparedness?" Glancing up from her laptop, where she had been going over her strategy for transitioning out of maternity leave, Grace asked.
• "Not exactly panicking. More akin to a review of final preparation. I wanted to make sure we were ready for the actual care and feeding of a newborn, even though I knew we had done a great job with the nursery setup and practical logistics."
