• The police station was smelling of stale coffee and administration, but Detective Maria Santos was everything Grace had hoped for: sharp-eyed, no-nonsense, and clearly skilled with criminal harassment cases.
• "Mr. Walker," Detective Santos stated, glancing through the report they had just finished, "Derek Voss has quite a record. Assault, racketeering, and intimidation. The fact that he is particularly targeting you is troubling.
