• The rush of wind streams through my fur as I run, paws pounding against the earth while I push myself faster toward Moonveil Pack territory. I know Linda and the others are still back at Silver Paw, but I cannot bring myself to return there—not yet, not after everything. Too many bad memories cling to that place.
• Behind me, I can hear Drake’s black wolf keeping close. He is tracking every move I make, his eyes never leaving me. I know it’s because I’m still weak, but that doesn’t mean I appreciate his constant shadowing.
