• We reached our trucks quickly, Miss Linda and the children already waiting outside for us. I figured Jack must have linked her ahead of time, warning her that we weren’t returning alone. She had clothes ready in her hands, passing them to her mate. Jack thanked her quietly and dressed while introducing his family to Milan.
• As I stood nearby, little Lace tugged at my ear with her tiny fingers, giggling as she asked if I could give her a piggyback ride. Before I could answer, her mother gently scolded her to stand still. Then Linda turned to me with a soft smile and said she’d left my driver’s side door open, with a dress waiting on the seat.
