Chapter 23 The Choice Of Silver Paw

  • I stood at the edge of the pack house yard, gazing out at the Silver Paw wolves gathered together. For the first time in days, laughter and warmth filled the air. Even though the pain of losing loved ones still lingered in their eyes, they were moving forward. Wolves chatted over steaming bowls of Evette’s rabbit stew or plates piled with food, while pups tossed a ball back and forth on the grass. Their mothers sat nearby, smiling faintly as they watched.
  • The wounds of the attack were still visible if you looked closely, but most of the rubble and wreckage had already been cleared. Even the older pups, those between fourteen and eighteen, had pitched in alongside the adults. A few homes had been scrubbed clean, their walls brightened with a fresh coat of paint. The sight made my chest swell with pride. Silver Paw wasn’t just recovering—they were becoming stronger. We all were.
