• Sitting on the couch in my living room, I can’t seem to keep still. My leg bounces restlessly while I sip chamomile tea, trying to calm the nerves fluttering in my chest. The soft ticking of the wall clock only makes the silence heavier. Drake said he’d move in for a while—at least until we figure out what Devon’s up to—and though I agreed, I can’t shake the anxious energy running through me.
• After dropping me off, Drake took my truck back to the dorms to pack his things. That was over an hour ago. In that time, I’d already prepared one of the two spare bedrooms for him. Even though he’s my mate, I’m not ready to share a room yet. Too much has happened, and rebuilding trust takes time.
