Chapter 38 “The Midnight Escape”

• I stand at my bedroom window, staring out into the night. My eyes sweep over the yard of the Moonveil pack house, searching for any guards who might block my escape. My bags are already packed, filled only with what I need most. The only thing I couldn’t bring were the documents locked away in my safe—at least, I thought I couldn’t.
• It’s two in the morning. By now, the party should be over. Marcus has probably told the guests some excuse about my absence, pretending nothing is wrong. That’s fine. Let him cover for me. I don’t belong in a pack that’s blindly following two tyrants while they drag Moonveil into the dirt.
