Chapter 8
- Amara walked through the front door of her family’s estate, her mind buzzing from the day's events. The confrontation with Joshua, Lucy, and Karen had played out exactly as she had hoped. The truth had come out, and for once, she wasn’t the one being dragged through the mud. But as she stepped into the house, she felt a heavy tension in the air that signaled another conflict waiting just around the corner.
- As she entered the lounge room, she spotted her stepmother, Rita, and her grandmother, Melissa, sitting stiffly on the couch. Their eyes were fixed on the television screen, where the news replayed the scandal she had exposed earlier that day. The reporters were dissecting every detail, and images of Joshua and Lucy flashed on the screen, faces filled with guilt and fear. Amara couldn’t help but feel a rush of satisfaction as she watched.
- “What is this, Amara?” her stepmother demanded, her voice sharp as she pointed at the TV.
