Chapter 24
- The sun hung low in the sky as Amara prepared to leave for the site of the most recent rogue attack. She adjusted the strap of her leather armor, her face set in determination. The attack had been brutal, but the aftermath was what intrigued her. Patterns had begun to emerge in the rogues’ movements, and Amara was determined to uncover their strategy. She refused to stand idly by while Xander and the others bore the weight of this fight alone.
- “I still don’t think this is a good idea,” Asher said, his voice tinged with concern as he leaned against the doorway of the armory. “You shouldn’t be heading out there, Amara. It’s dangerous.”
- “I know it’s dangerous,” Amara replied, fastening her belt. “That’s why I have to go. These attacks aren’t random, Asher. There’s a purpose behind them, and if I can figure out what it is, we’ll have the advantage.”
