Chapter 24

• Kaia stood at the door, her features hardening into a frown as she listened to the heated discussion from the other side of the room. Though the door was tightly shut, she could hear the raised voices and the tension in the air. She could feel the anger and the frustration, and she knew that something was brewing.
• "There is no way I would be willing to give that much money for a project that is bound to fail!" the first man exclaimed followed by several affirming voices.
• "None of those plans to guard against the blood moon is going to work, what do they take us as? Children? They behave so high and mighty all the time yet the halo was stolen right under their noses!" another chimed in angrily.
