• My throat is dry as I stand before the Alpha council. There are more representatives than usual. This council meeting was made open to the public, and pack members from all of the Gemstone Packs have made a point to be here. Jasmine was the only Imperial rogue brave enough to speak out against Alpha Jasper. She is here to provide them with her memories of the raid on the Ruby Pack. She holds her shoulders back and tries to appear brave, but the trembling in her hands is betraying her.
• Jasper is leaning back in his seat with a smug look on his face. He believes he has already won, and the meeting hasn't even started yet. But it doesn't go unnoticed by me that the other Gemstone Alphas have distanced themselves from him.
