• I hurried out of the classroom after school dismissal, an incoming text message from my phone made me stop abruptly in my tracks. A text from Raven telling me she’s waiting for me at the parking lot and another one from my Mom, letting me know she might not be home until later. Her own text showed it was sent hours ago, meaning it probably came in while I was at the cafeteria or in class.
• Putting my phone back inside my backpack, I was on the verge of leaving but was forced to a stop as Izzie appeared in front of me. I frowned at her, wondering what the hell she wanted while also taking note of the fact that she wasn’t alone.
