• I had made my mind up. I wasn't going to bring up anything about Xylene with Elgin. There was something about it that just didn't feel right. Discussing him with Elgin-it felt like I was betraying whatever fragile connection we had. Things were already tense between us, and bringing up Xylene would only make it worse. It wasn't that Elgin and I were again good friends, but at least we'd reached a point in time where we could be civil. We weren't fighting anymore, but most certainly didn't say very much to each other, either.
