Chapter 4 A New Dawn
- Chapter 4
- A new dawn
- Mimilia's POV
- I woke up the following day feeling refreshed, renewed, and strong like never before. It was as if nothing happened yesterday night, it was as if I never left the pack after seeing my best friend and my mate making out with each other.
- My feet hit the marble floor as I got down from the bed; I stood tall, staring at the surroundings of the room I had slept in. It is very simple; a very big brown leather couch, a two-sized closet stood tall opposite it, a portable television is beside the door alongside speakers and stereo, the walls were painted brown and butter with some top-notch design on it making the room look so fascinating and beautiful. Brown rug graced the floor, and the bed; a large bed which could contain three people and a large bedpost is covered in brown sheets and blanket. It seems everything in the room is either Black or Brown.
- I gave the room one last glance before walking in the opposite direction; I opened the door and walked into the bathroom. I came in contact with my reflection across the mirror; my hair was disheveled, and my face screamed back at me, horrifying. I just need a bath.
- I found a new brush and took care of my mouth, then I stepped into the bathtub and spent the next twenty minutes feeling the warmth of the water seep through my skin.
- Out of the bathroom, I went through the closet, which was mainly filled with made clothes; Xylene, I picked out a cotton shirt and wore it over a short skirt I found.
- Just as I made my way back to bed, the sizzling aroma of hotdog filled my nostrils and I smiled unknowingly.
- I left the room and traced the aroma to the kitchen downstairs; Xylene's back was turned to the kitchen door, and he prepared breakfast.
- "Hey," I said announcing my presence.
- "Hi pretty." He answered not bothering to turn back.
- "The aroma of the hotdog disturbed my nostrils, I couldn't help it, so I came downstairs," I say, leaning on the kitchen doorpost.
- "Ohh! Sorry, I didn't mean for it to disturb you," He laughed, wiping his hands with the kitchen towel. "Did you sleep well? So, how are you feeling this morning? I hope your body doesn't ache from the nestings you received yesterday?" He asked after a while.
- "You don't have to worry about me, I am feeling alright and better, my only problem now is this hunger attack that won't let me breathe properly." I smiled.
- Xylene laughed and motioned to me. "Come, hungry lion, come sit at the table; tell the lion inside of you to wait a little while so I can prepare breakfast." He chuckled at the silliness.
- "Ohh, well, sometimes the lion inside me won't listen. But a little advice: hurry up with the breakfast before I lose my mind and tear you into pieces." I closed my eyes and rolled it a little bit, licking my lips in the process.
- "Ohh my, I am so scared right now." Xylene chuckled and turned back to what he was doing earlier.
- He was fast and knew what to do; he was familiar with the kitchen equipment l. I turned on the gas cooker and then chopped the remaining sausages into eatable sixes before pouring them into the frying pan. And then he fetched two large mugs and mixed powdered milk and chocolates in it. Something beeped, and he moved to the toaster machine where he brought hot, tantalizing toast breads.
- Soon he served breakfast, toast breads and sausages, and tea.
- "Here eat before your lion takes over you." He said joining me.
- "I think my lion doesn't want to eat this," I paused and stared at him. "It said I should eat you, your head would look delicious." I smiled.
- "I will give it to you; you are a very funny girl." He pointed his fork at me.
- "I think it is my way of just forgetting everything that happened; you know, if you don't want to think about bad things or let those hurtful memories come back to you, you just have to be happy, say funny things, and beautifully see life." I lied, biting into my toast bread. "And by the way, you are a good cook, Xylene; I think my lion is satisfied with this delicacy." I nodded and bit into it again despite my mouth being full.
- "You might want to slow down." He stared at me.
- "I am hungry." I dragged, emphasizing the last words.
- "So now that you are out of his shell, I mean Mille's, what are you planning on doing next?" He broke the silence after a while.
- "Well, my recovery is top-notch to me for now; when I woke up this morning, I was feeling refreshed and renewed, but I have to wait a little bit while to recover properly. And when I am done recovering, I am going to work and earn money." She nodded.
- "Ohh really, what do you need money for?"
- "Are you asking me that? What do you need money for Xylene?" I threw the question back at him.
- "Me," he pointed at himself sad then shrugged. "I don't think I need money and would ever be in lack." He replied.
- "Well, seems you have some sort of fortune left by your parents to live your life on with, but as you can see I have none, no my parents, my so-called mate, and my husband cheated on me with the only person I can family here on earth, my best friend, and so now I am alone in this world, me against the world." I paused and sighed heavily. "If I want to live a good life, free from the shackles I was caged in a few months back, and be my normal self, I need to work and earn money to take care of myself." I gulped the tea.
- "You know, one thing I like about you is your courage and self-esteem. Who would have believed the next thing that would jump into your mind after what happened is to work? You do know you have wonderful visions of yourself and I do admire your enthusiasm to work and earn money despite the turmoil you faced in the hands of Miles."
- "What would have expected me to do? Suck and cry my eye over what had happened already, or gather rogues to attack Miles, or what exactly should I have done, just sit and fold my hands while you take care of me like a kid?" I asked, shaking my head, but he didn't reply; instead, he just stared at me. "Ohh, come on, Xylene, anyone in my shoes would know better than to suck and try to fight Miles back; he would win; he always does win and goes Scott-free. So the best way to win is to move ahead, see the other bright side of the world, free your mind by working, working, and have this only goal: to earn money. He won't meet me the same way if he comes back for me. I would be independent and have that life he denied me: Freedom." I stared out of the window at the golden ball rising over the horizon.
- "The sun is settling; it is very beautiful," I muttered, still looking at it; Xylene followed my eyes and chuckled.
- "Finish up your food, Mimilia." He waved his hands at my face.
- "You know I love the way you call my name. I don't get people calling me like that." I laughed and he sighed.
- "So I have been the one talking since I came into the kitchen, and it is not because I love talking or trying to get my mind off what transpired recently, but I think as well just ask. Tell me about your mate; I am doubting a handsome man like you wouldn't have a lucky girl by his side." I asked.
- "And why do you think I have one?" Xylene asked.
- "You should have a mate because you have all the qualities of a responsible man. You are kind, caring, very good and sweet, and above all," I paused and leaned forward. "You are very handsome, breathtaking should be the right word." I leaned back into my chair.
- "Well, unfortunately for me, and sorry to burst your bubbles, I don't have a mate or a girl." He replied.
- "In as much as you serious saying this thing, I don't want to believe it."
- "Better believe it. I haven't found my true mate; most of the she-wolves I have come across in my life just want me to get in between their legs and nothing more." He shrugged.
- "You see, that is one of the disadvantages of being so handsome. Like why would one man look so dashing, beautiful, and very handsome? The moon goddess took great pleasure and delight in creating you." I said.
- "No, I disagree; I am not handsome; I am not handsome. Have you seen guys so handsome than me?"
- "No, I haven't, but I think I am sitting and having breakfast with one right here and now with me." I chuckled.
- "Be serious, I am not handsome, I just don't know why the she-wolves flock around me and want to have something with me." He countered vehemently.
- "Stop being stubborn and admit that you are handsome. St
- op denying the fact you know it is true already." I narrowed my eyes at him and he chuckled.
