Chapter 98
- The aroma of freshly brewed tea wafted through the cozy kitchen of Sophie’s mother’s house. Aunt Marie, Sophie’s mother’s sister, was setting a plate of biscuits on the table as Sylvia’s mother, Mrs. Martins, wrapped her hands around a warm cup, grateful for the comfort.
- “Thank you, Marie,” she said, smiling at her.
- “You are welcome,” she said in a sing-song voice as she went back to the kitchen to bring her own plate and cup. She brought them and set time on a stool close to her sofa and sat down to enjoy the tea.
