- “What the hell, Sophie? Where are you?" Ethan’s voice was sharp with frustration. He thought he had calmed himself down before this call but he couldn’t help the annoyance rising up in him.
- Sophie took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves. "I'm at my mom's place, Ethan. She needed me, and I needed to be there for her."
- Ethan's grip tightened on the phone. "I told you, you couldn't leave. We have an agreement."
