• I couldn’t help but smile when I realized just how much Zane loathed Elder Vanya. Or rather, how much both twins did. She was brilliant, ruthless, and terrifyingly bold—the kind of woman who could challenge Alpha Storm without flinching.
• I crouched quietly inside Zane’s closet, trying to steady my breathing as voices rumbled from the adjoining room. Every word between them pulled me deeper into a world I wasn’t supposed to see.
• Marley’s voice dripped with restrained venom. “And I’ll remind her exactly where she belongs.” She smoothed the fabric of her black gown before taking her seat beside Alpha Storm, her poise almost regal. “You know the only reason the elders still hold any power is because of that stunt Vanya pulled last year.” She sighed, a sound of manufactured fatigue. “As much as I despise her, with Beta Brooke gone, you need the elders. You need to speak with Jace.”
