  • Zane leaned in, his lips brushing dangerously close to my ear. “Oh, I’ll think of something,” he whispered, his voice low and edged with mischief. The sound sent a shiver straight through my spine. His hand brushed the can of Scentless spray on his desk, tapping it like it was some forbidden secret between us. The gesture felt loaded—like he knew exactly how much trouble I’d gotten myself into just for taking it.
  • I wished I hadn’t needed to sneak it from his room. If I hadn’t, maybe he wouldn’t be standing this close, his scent curling around me, making it impossible to think straight. Why the hell was a can of scent-blocker messing with my head this much?
  • Before I could say anything, Zane pulled back. His expression softened, though there was still that dangerous glint in his eyes. “But seriously, Ayla—just ask next time,” he said, flashing that grin that made every nerve in my body buzz. “I don’t mind sharing. You just have to say ‘please.’”
