  • The courtyard was chaos. Warriors carried the Alpha’s lifeless body toward the infirmary, his weight sagging between them. Blood trailed across the cracked pavement, and the metallic scent clung to the air like smoke after a storm. My pulse thudded in my ears as I watched Zane and Jace’s faces—both masks of fury and grief—mirror each other.
  • The knife that had been buried in the Alpha’s side was gone. My gaze darted around frantically, searching for it, for who might have taken it. Marley stood a few feet away, pretending to console the twins, her expression calm—too calm. Lyric was helping students clear the wreckage from the collapsed gym roof, but my stomach twisted as I caught the faint shimmer of silver glinting beneath Marley’s cloak.
