Chapter 1 A Damn Disaster

  • I don't know how to start with this whole story.
  • The truth is, ever since I met Aaron Sullivan, my life changed completely and I wish it had been for the better, that would have made my days much easier by his side, but no. My damn stepbrother decided to be the villain of the story and it all started one summer day on my twenty-first birthday...
  • ***
  • I quicken my pace down the fashion design faculty hallway upon noticing Bobbie's presence once again behind me. I clutch my books tightly against my chest as my heart continues to beat rapidly.
  • I glance at the wall clock resting on my right side and press my lower lip upon realizing that there are five minutes left until ten o'clock in the morning. Kitty and my other friends must be waiting for me at the university cafeteria for a small gathering because today is my birthday.
  • Wait... had I told them already? Today is my birthday and more than celebrating my special day, my happiness truly stems from the fact that dad promised to return from his business trip. It had been over three months since I last saw him and I am too excited to hug him again and be him and me against the world.
  • "Mina!" I jump to my feet upon hearing the voice of that disgusting pig, Bobbie has been following me since we started the first semester in fashion design, his appearance is the worst, his face is always greasy and don't even get me started on his physical appearance, it's too intimidating and hard to look at really.
  • "What do you want?!" I turn on my heels because I can't stand this situation anymore, why should I run away from someone I don't want? I know, I should tell him I don't like him and that's it, right? Well... No! Do you think I haven't done a thousand things to make fat Bobbie stop bothering me?
  • "Ha..." I roll my eyes because here he goes again, "Can't this idiot speak properly?" "Ha... Happy... Birthday..." In his trembling and sweaty hands, just like his whole stinky body, he brings a small pink box that is as damp as he is.
  • My horrified expression must be noticeable because his eyes fill with tears upon seeing the disappointment of me not taking his "precious" gift that he may have worked hard to get.
  • "What did we talk about last week, tell me?" I retort, taking the package he just gave me with some disgust, "I told you to stop chasing me, I don't want to keep being rude or a bitch to you, but Bobbie, I've told you a thousand times that you..."
  • The boy with sad but green eyes gestures for me to spare my words, "Why don't you like me?" I look at him from bottom to top, "I know I can improve and..."
  • “Enough!” I shouted too loudly, causing several students to start looking at us” I don't like you! Why do we have to have the same conversation every week?” His gift, which I still held in my hands, fell on his feet, letting me see inside it a small and beautiful silver chain” Please, stop hurting yourself and...
  • My eyes opened violently when the hands of the disgusting man in front of me took possessively my face to press his cold lips against mine. My arms felt immobile, my eyes could see how people started taking pictures of us, and I reacted.
  • My legs began to kick him, but the idiot insisted on shoving his tongue down my throat; so, as best as I could, I bit his lower lip savagely until he finally let go of me, emitting intermittent screams of pain.
  • Bobbie's chin was covered in blood, as were the fingers holding the blood, my legs felt weak, so without thinking, I fell sitting on the floor” Why is this happening to me? Some classmates help me up, so I look at them all scared. What will dad say when he comes back and sees the trouble I've caused because of that idiot?
  • “What's going on here?!” I bury my head upon hearing the voice of the vice chancellor of Western University, it's confirmed, my father is going to kill me” Romina! Bobbie! To my office now.
  • I run quickly towards the gray-haired man and grab the edge of his black jacket, shaking my head, but he just opens his eyes, disappointed” I... I was defending myself...” A couple of students lifted the guy off the floor to take him to the infirmary, his wound looks worse than I thought” He forced me! He took me by force... Do I have to allow them to violate my body and stay silent about it?
  • Tobias Priston looked at me incredulously” Your father is arriving today, Romina, how do I explain to the board of this prestigious university that the director's daughter mauled the lips of the best student of this generation?
  • Holy God... Is this real?” Wait...” I walked behind him towards the dean's office” Are you telling me that they care more about the perfect grades of that abuser than me? What part of him kissing me by force didn't you understand?
  • The man with slicked-back hair opened his eyes, indignant and somewhat dazed, his fingers touched the bridge of his nose before placing his glasses on the desk behind him” Romina, you are not a child anymore, I have known you since your mother left...
  • I opened my eyes and couldn't help but lower my head, mom had abandoned us when I was still very young, so I didn't have many memories of her; I remember that since then it has been just dad and me against the world.
  • My first tooth, my first menstrual cycle, my first love, and even my first time have always been guided by my father.
  • "Was she prettier than me?" Tobias relaxed his shoulders before hugging me. Harold and he had been friends since college, so we considered him part of our family. "I miss her so much... I know that if she were here with me, she would be hitting you because someone touched her baby..."
  • We both laughed. "I'll give Bobbie a warning," I said. I tried to protest, but he shook his head, opening my eyes. "You know very well that it will be difficult to do anything to him. He has the best grades in the history of Western University, and if we do anything to him, everyone will be against you."
  • "For being part of the founding family," the uncle nodded. "Can I go now?"
  • "Yes," Tobias said, putting his glasses back on. "Tell the transfer student out there that he can come in." I stopped in my tracks. "Transfer student in the middle of the year? Did Dad allow it?" The vice principal clenched his jaw as if he had let something really important slip and obviously wished I didn't know. "Have you talked to my father?"
  • The man took a small white handkerchief from his back pocket to wipe the sweat from his forehead. "Aaron... Aaron is waiting. When your father arrives today, you can ask him whatever you want." I turned on my heels, tightening the strap of my bag. Why did I feel like they had been hiding things from me?
  • Dad's secretary, Rosita, smiled at me and congratulated me on my birthday. In the background, I could see a huge guy wearing ripped pants and a blue baseball jacket. I walked shakily towards him, as his appearance seemed too dangerous. "Aaron?"
  • The black-haired man looked up and pulled out a pack of cigarettes. "What?" he replied lazily. "Did you lose Narnia or something?" His black eyes observed me up and down, and he trembled. "I don't give my number to women like you..."
  • I chuckled. "Like me?"
  • "They're like cookies, you know?" he said. I furrowed my brow because I didn't understand what he was trying to tell me. "They look delicious, but when you touch them, they just turn to dust and become completely inedible... You think no one is worthy of you, right? Do you feel perfect? I can already imagine you must be thinking, 'That stinky guy who does he think he is? I'll tell my daddy to buy me a new car because...' " My hand slapped his face hard.
  • Aaron stood up and aggressively grabbed my wrist, shaking my body violently. "You have no right to talk to me like that! Who told you that you know me? Why are you talking about my father like this? Is this how you treat people you see for the first time in your pathetic life?" He pushed me, making my feet wobble a bit.
  • “Surely your dad is a damn idiot for raising a stupid rich girl like you...” Aaron's shoulder pushed me out of his way, Rosita watched me in silence, so I grabbed my things and left knowing that my birthday had already started off badly. But I understood one thing, that guy hated the world and the world hated him.

  • Happy birthday...
  • My group of friends start singing in the middle of the university cafeteria, Kitty carefully walks out from the kitchen with a beautiful pink cake with birthday candles lit. Some students stop their tasks to join in my best friend's singing and my own celebration.
  • “Make a wish!” Paul shouts as he helps me hold my bag.
  • “Bobbie says to wish for him!” Sebastian jokes beside me and everyone joins in the laughter.
  • I tuck my hair behind my right ear and lean in a bit to make my wish, closing my eyes and blowing out the candles on my cake.
  • “Thank you so much!” I mumble as Kitty hugs me as if there's no tomorrow” Remember, my party is tonight at nine, you're all invited” I reach for my bag to grab my phone and take a picture, but realize I left it in the design and pattern room.
  • It's one in the afternoon, so by this time all the students are either having lunch or handing in assignments, and it won't take me long to go to the room and back to the cafeteria to continue the celebration. I quicken my pace, the entire arts building is empty and I can't help but feel a bit scared.
  • My hands feel a bit sweaty, but I end up stopping in my tracks when I hear a faint whimpering coming from the classroom. My heart feels like it's about to burst out of my chest, and it only gets worse when the sound of banging fills my ears, sending shivers down my entire body.
  • I grit my teeth, convinced that maybe all of this is just my imagination. I can't be so unlucky as to have a ghost trying to take my soul on my birthday, right? The sound of banging and small moans grows louder and more constant. My breathing feels heavy, I take a deep breath and place my right hand on the doorknob, turning it carefully to face the reality.
  • One of the university cheerleaders is on top of a guy that I can't see clearly, the girl bounces on the prominent and hardened cock of that man and shakes as if she wants to impress him.
  • The guy sucks on her breasts while the hips of that student move as if her life depended on it” Agh...” The dark-haired girl sobs, trying to kiss his mouth, which for reasons unknown, he doesn't let her touch” Do you like it?
  • The man's voice is too low, so I crouch down to grab my phone from my desk and leave as I came in, but suddenly and in a way I can't explain, dark eyes as night and mysterious as death watch me with a smile. Aaron, as I think that idiot's name is; takes the girl's cheeks to bring their lips together, perhaps ignoring that just a moment ago she was begging him to do so.
  • His eyes are fixed on me” Do you like to watch?
  • The woman turns towards me, glaring at me with hatred, probably because I just ruined what might have been the best sex of her damn life. But what I really couldn't believe was that I, Romina Western, daughter of one of the best families in Madrid, was caught up in such a vulgar and precarious situation.
  • "Do you know this isn't a motel?" I blurted out, quickly grabbing my phone and holding it close to my chest. "Mr. Aaron, didn't you just arrive at this institution?" The girl got off his lap, adjusting her sports uniform.
  • "Do you want some too?"
  • I chuckled, amused. "I'm not into stray dogs... Do you have fleas?"
  • "What do you want, Western?" the woman asked after a few seconds of silence. "You have your phone, can you let us finish?" I shook my head, pointing to the security camera on the side of the room that was perfectly aimed at them.
  • "Did you know that art galleries have security cameras because of the materials and works used by artists?" I clapped, stepping back. "You just made the best porn of your lives! You're not on a scholarship, Maria? You're out with this..."
  • I opened the door to leave, but the dark-haired girl grabbed my hand. "Help me, Romina!" Aaron grabbed his jacket and put on a black cap that was resting on the chair next to him, his face as relaxed as if he didn't care that this warranted an expulsion without appeal. "You're the director's daughter!" The man's face suddenly paled, his hand gripping the back of a chair in the room as his eyes glared at me as if I owed him something.
  • "This is a violation and I'm sorry, I have no power over the educational decisions of my family's university."
