- I was in my office. It had been two days since Claire stormed out of the house, her anger fueled by the careless words that had spilled from my mouth. Words I hadn’t meant. Words I couldn't take back.
- The silence in the room was deafening, broken only by the soft hum of the air conditioning and the occasional tap of my fingers against the ceramic mug.
