  • The rain had started falling by the time the slender woman reached the city center, a light drizzle misting the streets and giving the neon lights a glimmering reflection on the wet pavement. She moved with purpose, her cloak clinging to her frame, the brown envelope still tucked securely beneath her arm. Every so often, she glanced over her shoulder, scanning for anyone who might have followed.
  • She ducked into the lobby of a luxury boutique hotel, shaking off the light rain as she approached the front desk. The receptionist, a young man with slicked-back hair and a practiced smile, looked up immediately.
