- I could barely think straight as I stepped out of the car, my jaw still aching from Ivan’s punch earlier. Not that I didn’t deserve it. I probably deserved a lot more than that. He hadn't spoken a word the entire ride back to the hotel, and I didn’t dare try to break the silence either. The tension around him was thicker than tar. He looked like a man ready to burn the world to ash.
- Jeremy met us in the hotel lobby, looking from one face to another like he could sense the storm we brought in. “Should I start tracking their phones?” he asked immediately, always one step ahead.
