Chapter 138- The warm embrace

• The next morning, Lisa was getting ready to go to the academy. She was very excited, and her face was glowing with happiness. Just then, her door knocked. She walked to the door and opened it. Daniel Brooke was standing in front of the door sullenly. His face was pale, and he seemed to be troubled by something. Lisa cast a worried look at him and was about to ask something but before she could open her mouth, he started saying, “Lisa… I have something important to deal with, so I am going out for a few days. Can you stay alone here?”
• She was a little puzzled to hear this, thinking, what type of work had come overnight that he needed to leave suddenly. Then she thought it was good for her, and she could go out freely. Internally, she was overjoyed, but she didn’t show any sign of excitement on her face. She acted as though she was sad and asked anxiously, “What should I do alone here? When are you leaving?”
• Daniel Brooke felt a throbbing pain in his heart. His gaze was filled with concern. He cupped her face and said huskily, “I am leaving in the afternoon. Sorry baby… I will be back soon. Until then, you take care, and I will call you.”
