• Benicio sat in his car, tucked quietly into a shaded corner across the street from the building where Irene had disappeared almost an hour ago. The sleek, black vehicle hummed faintly beneath him, the engine on standby, the interior dim. His eyes, sharp and calculating, were trained on the glass doors of the entrance, unmoving.
• The weight of the past weeks sat heavily on his shoulders, a mixture of rage, desperation, and an unrelenting need for justice clawing at him from the inside out. He looked no better or less than Edward looked. He now spotted a beard, not from choice but for lack of shaving. It did not help that his guilt was eating him up.
