Chapter 44
- Fran rolled over in bed entangling her feet in the heavy blanket draped around her body. The first rays of sunshine pierced through the parted curtains and through her lashes. She squeezed her eyes shut quickly, drawing in a deep breath before opening her eyes again.
- This time her eyes adjusted to the sudden brightness.
- The lights were out but one of the curtains in the room had been drawn back, which explained why the room was so bright. It also explained how the voices from below woke her up. Her body felt stiff from such a short sleep. She could really use some more sleep, especially since her eyes were still swollen as a result of Bobby's abuse.
