• Fran’s immediate reaction was to whirl on Luca with her gun pointed to his chest. Tears blurred her vision, her heart constricted in her chest. She could not breathe. Her heart was deeply shattered with pain. She shared her body with this man! Like a fool, she built castles in her head with him when he was the cause of her trouble.
• Even now her hands trembled, she couldn’t bring herself to shoot.
• But Luca’s gaze wasn’t on her. He barely even registered her presence anymore. A dull ache filled his head. He didn’t want to believe what was before him even though it was as clear as day. The evidence of his brother’s betrayal was the gun he raised to his head and the darkness in his eyes.
