Chapter 26

• Luca was waiting for her in the garage beside the house by the time she finished dressing. An unlit cigar rotated in between his thumb and forefinger as he waited for her with his hip leaning against the side of a Harley.
• His men were nowhere in sight but, as Fran had seen from the window, they were prowling the perimeter for any signs of disturbance. Fran felt safe and at peace in this place. It was so much calmer and different here from the hustle and bustle of the city. It was quiet.
• Even her soft footsteps in the lush green grass as she made her way toward Luca almost felt like a disturbance against the serenity of the atmosphere.
