Chapter 21

• Annika ends her shift; she had been wanting to see the captain for days and hadn't been able to talk to him since the event. She went directly to the captain's office to see whether he was still there. She had second thoughts as she arrived at the captain's door; "maybe I should simply wait for him to see me in the bar," she reasoned. She paused.
• She was going to turn around when she noticed the captain approaching from outside. "Yes, Annika, what brought you here?" the captain inquired. "I simply wanted to chat with you, captain, since I haven't thanked you yet for your assistance with the incident I was in last week," Annika said gratefully.
• "Come in and have a seat inside," he said as he led Annika to his office. Annika inquired, "I was simply wondering why I wasn't summoned for a hearing." "I feel sorry that I didn't get punished for my irresponsibility," she said sheepishly.
