Chapter 17

• Annika was seeking for a spare table to eat at for a peaceful lunch in the crew mess. While she was eating, a bunch of Jaqueline’s gangs entered, all laughing as though they were having a good time. While they were waiting in line, Gemma noticed Annika and murmured something to Jaqueline while directing her gaze to where Annika is sitting.
• They sat like children, pushing each other about, making noise, laughing, and chatting loudly at the next table, where Annika was seated and they could see her face. "I saw someone come out of the captain's office last night," one of Jaqueline's groups says, loudly enough for everyone to hear. "Oh really? I feel like I know who that bitch is," Jaqueline said, glancing at Annika's expression. "Someone wants to be injured," Gemma adds, and they all burst out laughing.
• They were all attempting to terrify Annika, but Annika is doing her hardest to keep her fury in check. She realizes those comments are about her. She understands why she was in the captain's office, and she understands that nothing transpired between her and the captain. Annika stayed as quiet as she could, avoiding eye contact with any of them, but she was well aware that this was only the beginning of her challenges working with Jaqueline's group.
