Chapter 143 Sweet Affairs

• At home, during dinner, my father was passing the garlic bread to me when I decided to ask him about what happened earlier.
• Ripping off a section of the bread, I said, "Dad, I saw you at Mr. Williams' earlier today. Why were you in such a hurry?"
• He had been holding the bread basket, upright over the table with a relaxed grin but once I mentioned that, his face became downcast. He dropped his eyes from mine and slowly reclined into his seat. He appeared to be in another world suddenly and he dropped the basket with a limp toss. My heart broke when I saw him so acutely upset.
