• Kenneth sat in his office, looking blankly at the wall. Fiona's pregnancy had thrown his life into disarray once again. He had agreed to give her a chance, seeing as there was a child involved, but his heart belonged to Lisa. The thought of telling her about Fiona's pregnancy filled him with dread. He didn't want to hurt her, yet he knew well he couldn't hide this secret.
• When the sun had set behind the skyscrapers of Miami, Kenneth reached for his cell phone and dialed Lisa's number. She answered with the first ring, and the voice was so warm and reassuring. "Hi, Kenneth. How is your day going?"
