• The next morning, Kenneth woke up with a pounding headache; the events of the previous night were a blur. He sat higher up in bed, and that was when he suddenly felt disoriented, as if he was somewhere else. In the room, there was a chair near the window where Fiona had sat. She looked concerned.
• "Good morning," she said in a soft voice. "How do you feel?"
