Chapter 26 Beneath The Surface

• The abandoned warehouse's dark corridor swallowed her with its dim light. Dripping water echoes around her, mingling with a humming sound at a distance. Every message which he received from Kenneth was cryptic and furthered her deeper into the labyrinthine maze of the warehouse.
• It had been a wild-goose chase ever since the revelation that Kenneth was still alive and in hiding. He'd given her one final clue-a coded message, innocently concealed in an old book. Lisa tried to work out the code, turning the wheels in her mind as her consciousness was filled with the danger they were both in.
• She halted in front of a large metal door bearing the Nexus symbol on it; her breathing was in small, anxious gasps. Kenneth's directions had led her here, but as she drew closer, she could feel increasing weight in stakes involved. The chance of being discovered, of walking right into a trap, lay always like a threat.
