Chapter 448 Marcus And Siobhan

  • The dive bar Siobhan and Marcus went to, accompanied by a few others from the shelter who had also ended their shifts, felt deliberately imperfect in a worn-down yet stylish way, full of personality rather than polish. It usually attracted a motley crowd of students, musicians, and tattoo artists, along with a sprinkling of aspiring filmmakers. Apart from that, there was the usual couple of bartenders relaxing after their shifts, and people who wanted somewhere “real” instead of glamorous.
  • Marcus looked around appreciatively as he flung his jacket over a mismatched chair and settled down. The lighting was dim amber.
  • The old brick walls had been left intentionally untouched to create the desired atmosphere. Vintage beer signs, band posters, Polaroids, graffiti stickers, along with the mismatched furniture: thrift-store couches, battered stools, scratched wooden tables all of it added to the unique atmosphere and Siobhan, who had been here twice before with Nida and Dawn, settled back, smiling and relaxed. Jerald House, one of the regulars who handled the loading and unloading of supplies at the shelters and the soup kitchens, a genial man with dark skin and tight, curled hair, joined them and went off to get drinks for the group.
