Chapter 114 Rushing To The Rescue!

  • The windshield was streaked with rain, wipers swiping rhythmically but barely keeping up. The sky was a blanket of dull grey, visibility reduced to less than a mile. The distant landscape had vanished into mist, and the only reliable cues came from the glowing green instruments on the panel. The pilot sat upright, tense but composed, eyes darting between the artificial horizon, GPS, and radar altimeter.
  • Piers Delano sat, his lean figure coiled as he stared out into the grey world. He was barely conscious of the buffeting winds as the storm kept making the little helicopter bob up and down in the air.
  • Outside, gusting winds buffeted the aircraft mercilessly, causing sudden lurches and dips. The cyclic stick in the pilot’s hand felt alive, transmitting every twitch of the rotor blades as they fought the turbulent air. Piers watched detachedly, as he corrected them constantly—small, precise inputs, instinctively reacting to keep the helicopter steady.
