• It had been months since my father had been seeking forgiveness, but I still hadn't managed to find it in my heart to forgive him. The fact that he knew my address and would show up unannounced both irritated and frightened me, especially since he had once mentioned Victor visiting him and inquiring about me.
• He claimed he lied about not knowing where I was, but I still couldn't shake off the unease that Victor now had a connection to my father.
