I level my glare at him, my voice low but edged with fury. “You went behind my back and had things searched that had absolutely nothing to do with me or you,” I snap, my words cutting through the silence.
• Axel sighs, his shoulders slumping slightly. “I wanted confirmation. I wanted to know if what she suspected was true,” he explains, his tone calm yet unrepentant. “I would have told you, but it was late.”
