• The second I agree to Arkadi’s twisted proposal, I feel the weight of his demand settle like a lead weight in my chest. He’s asking a hell of a lot, and as far as I’m concerned, this entire deal is a ticking time bomb. But if this job keeps him at arm’s length and out of our lives for good, it’s a risk I’m willing to take.
